Its so disheartening hearing all the stories of parents forgetting their children in the car and the fatal consequences. Everyones raising awareness with all of these tips and tricks about how to help you remember your children. Im going to throw my two cents out there too. My dad always has a saying and Im sure my Pappy said it too, slow the chicken race down! You dont hear about this happening in poorer countries. Let me just be brutally honest and tell you the truth and that is that we have WAY too many distractions. Weve spread ourselves out too thin. Were running from one event to the next as fast as we possibly can whilst trying to work, go to school, craft, sport, exercise and the likes. Im SO guilty about this as well, so dont think Im just looking down at everyone. Im really just getting smacked with reality as i try to comprehend how this tragedy is happening to SO many families. I also struggle with the fact that I have to be well aware of my limits. Theres this irrational fear that if I limit myself that Im somehow hindering my child from experiencing something marvelous. In all reality they just want my attention regardless of what grand gesture I make or dont make they just truly want my presence. Im starting a time stance challenge. Everyday Im going to try and pause this hectic life and do something slowly. #timestance Im laying here nursing my little guy and even though Im VERY tired Im carefully watching him and typing this novel so Ill stay awake. Instead of seeing this as a sleep disturbance Im choosing to see this as a late night one on one bonding time that Ill cherish in a few years when hes running about and chasing his older brothers.
