Its so easy to call it selfish and claim that they arent thinking about the loved ones that are being left behind. But have you considered that those people are the reason theyve held on for this long? They spend weeks, years, sometimes decades fighting a battle inside that nobody else sees unless they choose to confide in someone. And even with proper support, sometimes the disease wins and the only way they think they will find light is by ending the darkness. Until youve stared down that level of depression, until youve lost your soul to a sea of emptiness and darkness... you dont get to make those judgments. You might not understand it, and you are certainly entitled to your own feelings, but making those judgments and spreading that kind of negativity wont help the next person. In fact, it will only hurt others.
