Its so great to be alive this morning. At approximately 2:30 AM, I felt the barrel of a pistol being pressed behind my right ear. I pretended to not notice for the longest time while my heart was pounding like a kettle drum. When I heard another voice whisper Go ahead. Do it, I swung a right-handed judo chop with everything that I had in me. Thank God it worked. I thought that the pistol had fired and that I was done for. The noise turned out to be every single item on my bedside table hitting the walls and floor. And my lethal right hand was aching. I turned to Pat who was snoozing so delightfully and fully unaware of the danger that we had just faced, for she was wearing ear plugs. I discovered that the intruders were gone, and had apparently taken the pistol with them as I frightened them away. I tried to clear my head so that I could fully relate the events to the police. I couldnt really fully describe the SOBs (Strung Out Burglars.) But I do remember that it started with two other FBI agents and me closing in on the perpetrators outside a rest area on I-85. The two mugs came out of the shadows and shot my two partners and barely missing me. I fell and played dead. They walked to the other agents and finished them and then....then I picked up all of the evidence and put all of it back on the bedside table. And went back to sleep.
