Its strange how you meet former students in the strangest places.. Drove over to Wallisville road at Oats road, where I meet and talked to for a few minutes Tommy Hickman class of 1956... He works at an truck air conditioning shop, they also carry lots of the bits and pieces for old cars..Tommy told me he would be at the October Gathering, that he might drive his 57 Ford convertible.. The man that owns the shop is Al Coker, married to Edna Sanders from GP... I made a bad mistake on getting there, I missed the Mercury Drive exit off of the New hwy 90 freeway...I had no clue that Mercury became Oats road...It wasnt that way the last time I was out there?? Some I do take the Wallisville road exit, and this old fool, is turned around, I took a right... OK I pass Maxey road??? That doesnt seem right?? At this stop light I see Normandy road...Yeah buddy I know that Normandy will take me back to I-10 West. Boogying down Normandy, nothing is familiar, until I cross Woodforest drive, it dawns on me.... Normandy used to dead end at Woodforest last time I drove out there...WOW Has it changed.. Back on I-10 West this time I take the Mercury drive exit.. I know where Oats road used to be, so across Mercury drive, I find Oats road...It hasnt changed that much, still has that nasty 90degree turn, then it dead ends into...SAY WHAT?? Mercury Drive to the right Oats Road to the left..BINGO... We are almost there.. I have wasted 45 minutes quarter tank of gas and I had my printed off instructions but Google Maps, you need to allow for old Idiots like me..??? Got the bits and pieces I came for , cheap too, Drive back across Houston , get to the A/C shop, They are Closed??? But then too Rubens father in law has been in really bad health, and knowing Ruben, and his guys, it had to be something bad happen because Ruben has gone on vacation and his guys ran the shop... Been a long day now I have to go take some pictures of that lumber my son bought out of that old house in Galveston that survived the 1900 hurricane.. He is turning it into one of the most awesome doors I have ever see,..Yall play nice be back later...
