Its supposed to be the worst winter for a century, I suppose one - TopicsExpress

Its supposed to be the worst winter for a century, I suppose one year theyll be correct with that forecast. I know its early to think about it, but would people be interested in another jaunt to Whisby Wildlife Reserve like we did last year? Same time of year (late January)? Pros: Its local. Plenty of parking. Its free (apart from parking). Its on the flat, and not too long a walk. Theres wildlife, sort of. Not too many norms. Nice big warm base-camp, with lovely refreshments, both hot and cold. Plenty of seats and stopping areas on the way round. Several routes to choose from. Cons: Weather dependent. Id personally like it to be like a proper arctic expedition, but this year it was like a mid-spring day, and fairly warm and dry (apart from the thunderstorm). If its bucketing down on the day will we just stay in base-camp? Its not walking distance from Lincoln for most people. The majority of us will need vehicles to get there. Spare seats? The car park isnt free. Childrens activity area is shut. So, whos up for it again? It was a giggle last time, and the staff there loved us when we turned up. Gold stars to the Chilvers Clan, three generations of expedition members, and there were certificates for all participants! You never know, there might be prizes this time around.
