Its that cookie cutter or mold into which most try to force the ideas of any given individual. At best, these woefully inadequate (at worst regressive and/or deadly) attempts to truly encompass, in a word, phrase, definition, or overall attitude, the vast array of things in which any given individual chooses to invest their passion, interest, are, ironically, the most benign and spineless characteristics of criticism among those attempting dialogue but are also divisive, insidious and poison. There is no mistaking whatsoever that individuals who employ these kinds of umbrella definitions and name calling or labeling are not at all interested in dialogue. Until that time when someone suggest to them, compassionately and with an amount of give and take as far as the space to allow ideas to thrive, that it is actually okay to disagree, to talk about why we disagree, and to possibly find middle ground on which we can agree. And Im not talking about agreeing to disagree. That phrase in and of itself is bullshit. People have called me a liberal more times than I can possibly count. And its not true. Im not a liberal. Im not a progressive. Im not a libertarian. Im not a Democrat. Im not a Republican. Im not a lot of things. One thing that I am is a culmination of all of the things that I have learned and been through in my life, the things that I have chosen to devote a very educated, and sometimes not so educated, passion toward.
