Its that time of the week again where we introduce to the fantastic local beer on offer in Lancaster and surrounding areas. Its the Hawkshead brewery we go to this week. Based in Staveley they have been brewing traditional beer styles with a modern twist in the Lake District, of Northern England, since 2002. They started in an old barn at Hawkshead, at the head of Esthwaite Water. Which they outgrew after four years and moved across Windermere to the present site, in the Mill Yard, beside the River Kent, at Staveley. Here They built a new brewery in Chadwick’s Mill, the old wood turning mill, and added The Beer Hall, the brewery tap, so that you can drink there beer where it is brewed. And here at the Merchants we are happy to serve a variety of there fine beers. This weekend we have There wonderfully hoppy Cumbrian five hop, A well hopped golden ale made using, as the name suggests, 5 different hop varieties; Goldings, Bramling Cross, Fuggles, Citra and Amarillo. Flavours of tropical fruit, orange marmalade and herbal hop aromas are balanced by a juicy malt character. Check out there other beers here. https://hawksheadbrewery.co.uk/beers.aspx
