Its the 1st of February and as per promise, well start series of posts from Natural Divas wholl share something about their hair journey. Tips, Dos, Donts and how to achieve certain hairstyles...all of it here. First up, is my beautiful friend Tendai Kaiyo Whitney, whos just given birth today, hence me posting her pictures and tips first (congratulations again Ndile) :) Tendai is addressing those whore still deciding to go natural, transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. So here goes... Transitioning from Relaxed hair to natural hair… When I transitioned from relaxed/permed hair to natural hair, I did not dive in to do the so-called BIG chop. I did a greenhouse effect moisture thing. The reason being, it strengthens the hair because the relaxed bit had stripped my hairs of oils. So I did it every night for two weeks! It takes commitment I dont what to lie. -Wash hair with your favourite shampoo and condition. -Pat dry but leave it a bit moist -Add oil of choice from root to tip (I have olive oil, argon/Moroccan oil, tea tree and almond oil. -Cover hair with shower cap, then dhuku.(scarf), and even wool hat works if u want ☺ (You are creating a mini heat bonnet.) Then sleep. In the morning it will have water droplets on shower cap like dew and that is your aim. -Style how u want repeat for a fortnight. I big chopped after that and I tell you, I loved my TWA as it had lovely curls. Here are some pictures of my natural hair. Good luck to all the ladies transitioning.
