Its the 8th round of 1991 baseball draft, the Atlanta Braves are on the clock, they decide they want the Hilanders from Kelso Washington high school, Jason Schmidt. Schmidt turns 41 today. Born in Lewiston Idaho. Schmidt breaks in with the Braves in 1995. He starts the 1996 season with the Braves, but in August, he is the player to be named to the Pirates, that sends Denny Neagle to the Braves. He pitches for the Pirates until part of the 2001 season, when he is traded to the San Francisco Giants. In 2002, he pitches in the post-season for the 1st time and throws for the only time in the World Series and losing to the Angels. His era of 2.34 in 2003, is the best in the NL. He is an All-Star for the 1st time and finishes 2nd in the voting for the Cy Young. In 2004, he is an All-Star again. He has a career high 18 wins in 2004. He is an All-Star again in 2006, his final season with the Giants. In 2007, he signs with the Dodgers, he throws only 6 games. Due to injury he does not pitch in 2008 and would be done after 4 games in 2009
