Its the Friday before a holiday weekend, and you know what that means... a bananza of forecast pictures! First picture (from 10:40 this morning) is of the radar estimated rainfall over the past 24 hours. Mankato has seen around .3 while locations near Austin have seen 1.1 and parts of northern Iowa have seen 1.35. Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast for the rest of the afternoon into the evening. Anything we do see will be gone by midnight tonight, but this means that it will be a wet drive as you travel really anywhere in the region. The warm, humid airmass can be blamed for this. A cold front will sweep by tonight. It wont cool anything down, but it will drop our dewpoints for tomorrow, drying out the atmosphere. This will make for a very nice Saturday. Sunday on the other hand, may be a different story. Winds then look to increase from the south and southwest, bringing warmer temperatures and higher dewpoints back to the area. At the same time, a cold front from North Dakota will swing down. This front, crashing into an airmass with a lot of energy, may produce severe weather in the form of large hail and damaging winds. If this were to happen, it would be late in the day. This would all clear out by Labor Day, making things very comfortable. keyc/weather -Jack
