Its the Summer Solstice, what are you planning for this longest day of the year?? How about Jim Jones and Nancy Elliott and a night of Western and Southwestern music and stories? Jim is a Western Folk Singer in the tradition of Woody Guthrie, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and more recently, Ian Tyson and Chuck Pyle (the “Zen Cowboy”). He’s a native Texan who moved a little farther West so he could enjoy the beauties of New Mexico. He sings songs about the West…cowboys, horses & cattle, cattle rustlers, the coming of the train. He also sings songs about the people and the land, the rivers and the mountains, the beauty of the Western sky. He’s a bit of a philosopher although he keeps that well-hidden under a sharp and self-deprecating wit. You’ll have a lot of fun at his show and you might find yourself thinking about something a little deeper, later when you have time to reflect. He tells some of the corniest jokes you’ve ever heard and unfortunately, when you groan, it just eggs him on. Best known for her unique, alluring vocal style, and enrapturing music and lyrics, Nancy Elliott writes songs inspired by life, experienced first hand and soaked through with adventure, color and passion...., she then delivers them completely, no holds barred. ....A master of the story telling song....this poet, singer, musician and author may be petite and soft-spoken, but she hits the stage in a big way........ This is the music of life, rich in spirit and infused with soul, delivered straight from the heart! Jim plays at 8pm, Nancy at 9:20pm. Admission is $8. Doors open at 7:15pm.
