Its the summer holiday season! And that means its Braai time! Are you 100% sure you are using the correct wood to light you festive fires? Here is Justin Bonellos advice on picking the best fuel! When you choose the type of wood you’re going to braai with, stick to the local stuff. Black Wattle: Great for building that bonfire on the beach or when you’re camping. Rooikrans: My favourite go-to braai wood. Vine stumps: Make kiff coals – fast. Kameeldoring: From dead trees only, please! Makes very hot coals and because it’s so dense, it sometimes burns straight through the night. Compressed charcoal: Ain’t no friend of mine. Real charcoal: With you all the way. Pine wood: Don’t even think about it, unless you like an unpleasant resin-flavoured steak.
