Its the time of the year when you hear the following non historical nonsense: 1) Christmas is a pagan festival. They dont realize that the Emperor Aurelian introduced the cult of the Sol Invictus (“Unconquered Sun”) to Rome in AD 274. Most importantly, there is no historical record for a celebration Sol Invictus on December 25 prior to AD 354. Whereas Pope Saint Telesphorus (reigned A.D. 126-137) instituted the tradition of Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Now how can we replace something that didnt exist for over 100yrs after the fact? Kinda hard to do that. Also, enough of the schimatic orthodox ideas that its in March. Why is it that anyone elses ideas are legit but the true Church? Im pretty sure Charles Manson would be listened to more then St Thomas Aquinas today by those not in the Church. 2) Christ wasnt born on 25-Dec. The mother experiment works well in this. There isnt a mother alive that doesnt remember when her first born was born. They know the weather, time, day, who was there, probably what they were wearing, etc. Yet to modern day types we are really going to think that the Blessed Mother forgot or didnt tell anyone about the birth? Nobody asked her to tell that story? If this isnt fact then nothing of history can be accurate. As New Yorkers would say getouttahere More facts in this. So far no facts have been given back taylormarshall/2011/12/december-25-is-historical-birthday-of.html
