Its time for another one of those questions from me. Recently the president said that one of the things he regrets is not talking to his mother more and checking in with her to find out what was going on in her life and get to know her better since she played such a role in his life. She died when he was 34. I know the feeling. My Mom died when I was 29. So the president said to his young audience call your parents. But even though I talked to my Mom a lot I was just a kid, out of phase with her life. I got to know her but not the way I did from a more personal route: the letters and diaries she left. So my argument: sure, call your parents but also parents leave letters for your kids when they turn 30,40,50 and maybe leave them your diaries when youre gone. Thoughts?
