Its truly disappointing when I hear that Muslim men whom I respect for their work on social justice practice such deep misogyny towards women. You cant advocate for justice while being a player, a rapist, or using our communitys silence on these issues to your benefit. There is a noble and honorable way to approach another woman that entails being clear with her that you would like to date her or marry her. If things dont go well, you keep your code of honor by not engaging in shaming her or spreading lies. However, when you use the professional space to pick up women while speaking to injustice and manipulate your power as a community leader, then I question how you can truly advocate for justice while inflicting injustice. This keeps numerous Muslim women from entering the public space, and has resulted in numerous Muslim women who are assets to our community leaving. The misogyny is deep and rampant, and its also being practiced by the very men who write statuses about respecting women. #Disappointed
