Its unfortunate that the neurotypical parents of severely autistic children feel diminished by the fact that the autism spectrum also includes people (the vast majority of us, in fact) who are less severely impacted. Those people dont have real autism and should stop talking, right now. Whats interesting to me is that these normal people have assumed ownership of the autism community and now wish to remove the membership cards of anyone they regard as even marginally successful on the grounds that they dont have real autism and therefore are merely quirky and cute. Cliff notes: First they bully Aspies for being weird. Then they bully them for not being weird enough. I have no idea who Jerry Seinfeld is, or what his experience has been, but I do hope that he gave some irritable diner a moment of reflection before passing an ugly judgment on the mother of a stressed out child and mouthing off at her at about her kid just needing a good spanking.
