Its usually very hard for me to express my thoughts on Veterans Day. I have friends and family in the military who are wonderful people and have gone to great lengths to protect their own and the ones they dont know. I believe that blood spilled is a price for Freedom sometimes and there are those that would do harm to us given the means. I am grateful for those special people who do protect us from those seeking to hurt America. What I struggle with, is my lack of trust not in individuals, but mostly in institutions. I distrust many of our military conflicts, not our military members. I distrust many of our so called leaders who send young men and women into harms way for possible political and financial gain. I distrust executives of companies that make up the military industrial complex who are judged not by the content of the character but the content of their quarterly earnings report. I know many in the military have seen far worse than I have and some may even say, thats just war. I find that a tough pill to swallow in cases like the one below. The best quote I heard today is, The best way we can honor our veterans, especially the wounded ones, is to stop making more of them.
