Its very rare I cant get on board with a good David Cook article. - TopicsExpress

Its very rare I cant get on board with a good David Cook article. For one reason, theyre written well. David writes meaningful commentary on many topics which arent always evident, giving a glimpse into valuable subjects which might not ordinarily get much attention. The issue of teacher pay is low hanging fruit. I was disappointed reading this article, because its the easiest of pickings for a writer and among the hardest topics to functionally address. You cant have one without the other if youre seriously attempting to illustrate the issue. I could write child labor in backwater nations is bad and probably come up with ten good supporting arguments which would be simple for the mass readership to digest. Tugging at emotions with the written word is childs play. A local teacher earns $48,000 per year is not news. In this case it is a statement wrapped in several paragraphs of populist pablum that serve little functional purpose. Point me toward a private school and Ill bet I can show you teachers who earn less, often much less, considering the value of combining salary and benefits packages. Keeping systemic societal problems top of mind has its value, I suppose. The A+ and the apple arrive in tow when you add potential solutions to what you perceive to be the problem.
