Its very rare to find on-board footage from international rally - TopicsExpress

Its very rare to find on-board footage from international rally due to the length of the stages. Here I filmed the final stage of the Merzouga Rally 2013, a short 52km stage with a Le Mans style start and a GP race of the dunes at the end. The organisers picked the softest sand dunes for the start to catch us all out (me included), coupled with a few fast river beds and a 30km race though the dunes. This is all navigational, road book scroll instructions, trip distances and compass headings. During the stage, my primary trip computer switch failed so I could not operate the trip, this meant I had to re-calibrate the back-up trip (under the roadbook) and align everything back to the road book while still trying to race. I also got stuck a few times and crashed near the end trying to avoid some camel grass (the crash was the better option, the camel grass is like concrete). Please excuse the expletives! A great event and I hope you enjoy the on board experience of navigational rallying. Lyndon
