Its week 8 for our local high school football teams. That means the regular season is winding down with most of our area teams still trying to get qualified for the playoffs or positioning themselves within their respective classes. Heres the broadcast schedule on our Prairie Radio Network of Sports for this weekend: Friday, Oct. 18th- The United Red Storm at 3 and 4 need to win their final 2 regular season games to be postseason eligible. Their first order of business will be to take down the 2 and 5 Mid-County Cougars. United is coming off a heart breaking loss to Princeville last week 15-13 and will look to get back on track this week in Oneida. You can hear Kyle McEwen and Tom Petersons Sunny 97.7 WMOI pregame show tonight at 6:45 with their game coverage starting at 7:00. This game will also be carried on the internet by going to 977wmoi or you can also listen at the game, or wherever you might be tonight, on your smart phone by downloading the Apple or Android App from each of our station homepages. The Galesburg Silver Streaks travel south to Quincy to take on the Blue Devils tonight. Galesburg is 3 and 4 on the season and needs to win their remaining 2 games to make themselves playoff eligible. If you remember, the Streaks beat Quincy 28-27 in a double overtime thriller last season at Van Dyke Field. Marty Touchette and Aaron Frey will be in Quincy tonight bringing you all the action live, on AM 1590 WAIK. Their pregame show will hit the air at 7:15 with kickoff coming at 7:30. Saturday, Oct. 19th- The Monmouth-Roseville Titans travel to St. Joseph for a game against St. Joe Ogden as they get one more day of preparation for the 5 and 2 Spartans The Titans, like the Red Storm, need to win their final 2 regular season games to get to the 5 win mark. This game will be broadcasted on Sunny 97.7 WMOI with Shawn Temple and Eric Munozs pregame show starting at 2:45...kickoff at 3:00. If youre not making the long trek to St. Josephs, tune your radios to Sunny 97.7 WMOI or get on your computer to listen to the game at 977wmoi or even listen on your smart phones by downloading the Apple or Android app from the 977wmoi website. The Monmouth College Fighting Scots look to build on the momentum that they started last week in a 65-3 Homecoming win over Grinnell. The Scots now travel north for a 1:00 date with Lake Forest. The Scots are 2-2 in the Midwest Conference and 2 and 3 overall. Kyle McEwen and Joe Winkel have the call of the game on AM 1330 WRAM with their pregame show beginning at 12:45. The Western Illinois Leathernecks travel to Youngstown State, squaring off against the 15thranked Penguins. Youngstown State is ranked 15th in the FCS Coaches poll. A win for Western would end a two-game losing streak and get the Necks back to .500 at 4 and 4. Beau Spencer and Dr. Tom Codys pregame show is on AM 1590 WAIK 2:30 with kickoff set for 3:00. If its time for football, its time for the Prairie Radio Network of Sports!!
