Its with great sadness that we mourn the passing of the great Willie Griffin on Friday 23/1/15. He was a great regular in Taaffes and Tig Choili and will be deeply missed by all staff, musicians and customers in both pubs. Hed spend his days between the two pubs enjoying the crack and banter with the odd sing song along the way too. He was a big sports fan especially the Gaelic Football and Hurling and hes spend manys an afternoon discussing the current state of hurling and football in the county. A true Rahoon-Newcastle clubman he was too and no matter if they won or lost hed always stand up and defend them. To say he was a great character is an understatement and anyone who knew him would agree. The place wont be the same without him and as the saying goes, ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann. Ar dheis dé go raibh a h-anam.
