It’s Friday again! What great books are all my friends currently reading? And what fun things do you have planned for this week-end? I spent very little time reading this past week so I have many chapters left in “The First Gardener” by Denise Hildreth Jones. The entire week-end promises to be just perfect weather-wise…almost fall-like. And since fall is my favorite time of the year I plan to enjoy every minute before the “dog days of summer” arrive in August. Matt and I will be on the road early Sunday morning to Indianapolis for the annual running of the NASCAR Brickyard 400. We haven’t missed this race since its inaugural in 1994. Jeff Gordon won in 1994, and I still root for him… and his teammate, Jimmie Johnson. I will be wearing my Jeff Gordon T-shirt and cap…everyone wears race gear on race day. I’ve decided that I’m going to buy a new Jimmie Johnson shirt too… if the lines are not outrageously long at the Johnson merchandise trailer. Afterall he is leading in points so far in this Sprint Cup season, and I have high hopes that he will win his 6th season championship. Our seats are across from the “pits”….not too far from the start/finish line so there will be plenty of action. And, even better there is always an unusual assortment of fans at the track….just perfect for a “people watcher” like me. I pray for a safe race….and safe travels for all those NASCAR fans who spend their Sunday in the stands of the famous Speedway cheering on their favorite drivers.
