It’s Summer and firing up the oven for homemade pizza doesn’t seem like the best option. Why not grill a pizza? You may never go back to the oven again… What You Need Pizza dough (Store Bought or homemade both work great!) Pizza sauce Toppings- Remember it’s summer, so lighter is better- mozzarella, greens, prosciutto and thinly cut fresh veggies work well Seasonings- Oregano, Italian Blend Olive oil Aluminum Foil (optional) Instructions 1. Preheat the grill on high. Get the grill very hot and set it up for direct heat cooking. 2. Prepare your toppings, seasonings and sauce. Great grilled pizza requires preparedness and quick actions! 3. Be sure to have a pair of grilling tongs, a spatula and an oven mitt. 4. Prepare your dough. Stretch and roll it out into your preferred shape- we like roundish! (: 5. Brush one side of the dough with olive oil. 6. Open grill carefully. Lay the dough on the grill (or aluminum foil to prevent sticking), olive oil side down. Brush the top of the dough with olive oil. Allow the dough to cook for about 3 minutes, do not close the lid. Using your tongs or spatula, check the dough. You’re looking for grill marks on it, but you dont want to burn the dough. 7. Flip the dough over. Move quickly to top the pizza. Spread on a thin layer of sauce, seasoning, some cheese, and toppings. Do not overload or the pizza wont finish cooking before the crust is torched. 8. Close the lid and cook for about 5 minutes. 9. Remove the lid and check the pizza. The edges should crisped, and the cheese should be melted. Remove the pizza from the grill. Let rest for 3 minutes, then slice and serve! TIP: If you like heartier cut toppings or sausage- be sure to precook for best results!
