It’s Way to Go Wednesday! Last week, Head of School Annette - TopicsExpress

It’s Way to Go Wednesday! Last week, Head of School Annette Raphel traveled to New York to visit with NYC-based Belmont Day alumni. These BDS alums were so inspiring that Annette wrote about the trip in her weekly “Message from the Head. Here’s an excerpt: “I was in New York for two days this week, amidst snow squalls and freezing temperatures, substantially warmed by meetings with alumni. These three alums (classes of ’58, ’59 and ’69), each of whom, when given a picture of their classes in elementary school, could name each of their classmates, and recall what happened to them after BDS. Some are still in close touch with some of their elementary buddies. All had specific curricular memories and shared how their aspirations for their own children were shaped by feelings of simultaneous nurture and challenge. They didn’t love everything but freely reminisced about what our own children most relate to: community.” Read more at scoop.belmontday.org/message-from-the-head-january-24. The takeaway from her visits: Nothing would make me happier than to continue to cultivate the kind of competence, compassion, and satisfaction that these three wonderful graduates displayed. They provided inspiration to fuel our future. Thank you to these alums and the entire BDS alumni community for continuing to inspire us all - way to go! *February Challenge Kickoff Countdown: 3 DAYS!*
