It’s a very sad day today. Our beautiful, funny, sweet Maddie Rose passed away in her sleep last night. She came to us from our county shelter on September 4, 2013. She had a huge mammary tumor, was pretty thin and had obviously had many puppies in her life. We had her surgery done to remove the tumor and spay her right away. Maddie stole our hearts with her wonderful personality. She was always a talker, with a funny yodeling sound that expressed her desires eloquently. She would carry her food dish around at mealtime and make her cute noises, letting me know it was time. Once, she helped me in the garden with a huge cucumber. She paraded it around to show all the other dogs that she had a treasure. Then, she ate it! Maddie had a heart shaped marking on her chest. She was truly all heart. She was a love... Maddie had been acting a little “off” for about a week. She seemed disoriented and kind of like she was losing her eyesight. I took her to our vet last Tuesday. Her blood work came back normal. But, when I described her symptoms of confusion and vision changes, our vet was suspicious that something might be going on in her brain. An MRI would be necessary to determine for sure. We are thankful that we had the last year with Maddie. We hope the love and care she received in her yearwith us helped make up for the previous years of neglect. She was definitely a shining star in our lives and will be sorely missed.--Barb
