It’s amazing how cruel life can be at times. For the past six - TopicsExpress

It’s amazing how cruel life can be at times. For the past six months we gave our “all” to fostering Benji. We showered him with tons of love, attention, toys, and belly rubs. In our quest to find Benji his forever home, we networked him like crazy amongst our friends and family; walked him all over our neighborhood with his “Adopt Me” bandana on and posted hundreds of pictures daily on Facebook. We taught him commands, words, self control and how to be a good doggie. After seven or eight failed “meet & greets” and one disastrous adoption, we knew his forever family would need to be very committed and understanding. Two weeks ago we had a very successful “meet & greet” with a wonderful, committed, understanding family. They fell in love with him; a home visit and reference check were done and we prepared ourselves to bring him to his new home this past Saturday. Our happiness was short lived however, because on New Year’s Eve, while petting Primo, I felt two lumps under his neck. We took him to the vet on Friday and today we received the devastating news that he has lymphoma. The prognosis is not good. For those of you who personally know Primo, you know that he is a very, very special dog. His personality equals his stature. He is the most gentle, loving, affectionate, obedient animal that ever lived. He gets along with all dogs and all cats and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Anyone who meets him immediately falls in love with his goofy personality and big droopy eyes. We simply cannot imagine life without him. Joe and I went with extra heavy hearts on Saturday to bring Benji to his new family. Sad because we knew it was going to be hard to say goodbye to the little bugger who we truly loved and sadder because we knew what was lurking around the corner with our beloved Primo. While we are ecstatic that a wonderful forever home was found for Benji, we are devastated over the prospect of losing our beloved Primo. Yes, life can be sooo very cruel at times. This is one of those times. Please pray for both our boys; Benji; that he is happy in his forever home and Primo; that our love can keep him going. Oh; and let’s not forget our girl, Shea who has been through the mill with cancer and a leg amputation and who will be completely devastated if her brother leaves her for the rainbow bridge.
