It’s been a lovely and exhausting day. I went to brunch with Michelle, Patricia, and Aliza and had an absolutely wonderful time. I behaved myself, sorta, excluding about a half a bran muffin but the rest was all high protein. Getting the hang of the damn diabetes diet is still not easy for me and I’ll admit to occasionally getting really pissed about it. But, I’m stuck with it and now I really have to work on how I deal with it. What Carol? Attitude adjustment? Crud. Jim wedges my can-o-oxygen in Michelle’s back seat, my short tether comes over the seat to me, and away we go. Patricia and Aliza were in Patricia’s car. We must have arrived at the restaurant at just the right time because we were seated in about ten minutes. And then we ate and talked and talked. I love these three women so much and simply being out with them made me feel a little bit normal. Like I might return to being a regular human being eventually. And not merely another cancer patient in the world. We came back to the house and talked a little while longer before they had to leave. I actually felt energized being with them and when they left I walked around the yard a few times and then did some more deadheading and pruning and tidying up and then... and then... I needed a nap. It blows me away how fast my energy can suddenly poof (!) go away. So now I still have that little stomach ache, although not as bad as yesterday. And, I am ready to go put my feet up and read a book. It really was a wonderful day and it helped remind me why I’ve been going through all this crapola. My Nubian guard has readied the barge so all I have to do is go sit on my chaise, drink my Thai ice tea, and start nibbling on my fresh pineapple. The wind catches the sail and away we go. Slowly sailing down de Nile. I have the best friends in the whole wide world And I do mean ALL of you Blessings and Love
