It’s hard to believe that it’s a year already since LaMarc was diagnosed. November 19, 2012 my life was changed when the Neurologist gave me the news no parent should here about their child, “Your son has a Brain Tumor” that moment I was in denial, I said what? A Brain Tumor, what do you mean? The Neurologist pulled up LaMarc’s scan on a monitor and pointed it out to me. That moment I felt like I was going to faint! I didn’t know what to do, my hands began to get sweaty, my vision blurry, and I remember feeling like I was going to pass out. The Neurologist sent the scans to an Oncologist and a group of other doctors at Florida Hospital and immediately set LaMarc up with an appointment, and there it got worse. After meeting a total of 4/5 doctors at the appointment, they told us that the tumor is called DIPG, I said what? What is DIPG? When the doctors explained it to us as: DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) is a disease which strikes at the heart of childhood. Less than 10% of DIPG children will live!!! When I heard those words, I remembered I immediately got sick and ran to the bathroom. The doctors wanted us to go on a clinical trial as soon as we could sign the papers, but as much as we wanted to start treatment immediately so LaMarc can get well soon, we want to find out more about the Tumor, so we went for 2nd and 3rd opinions at Duke University and John Hopkins. At John Hopkins a biopsy was done and was later determined that the Tumor was NOT DIPG, but Grade 2/4 Diffuse Astrocytoma. It was much relief to know that my son will not die within a few months, but we now have much more hope. I write this because I want everyone who has been praying for LaMarc to see where he’s coming from and how prayer changes things, if you only just believe. We could not have done it without my Prayer Warriors, and for this, I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for all your prayers, Thank you for all the kind words, and Thank you for all your support. LaMarc has taught me a thing or two since then; to be strong, to hold on to faith, and to never give up! This boys faith, in believing that God is healing him is so strong. Whenever he gets sick the only words he says is “ pray mommy pray” because he knows that when he prays, and because of his faith, he will be healed. Please continue to keep LaMarc in your prayers, because it’s not over yet. Have a blessed day, and I love. With God All Things Are Possible
