It’s obvious a lot of posters on this page are away from Camborne, but if you’re not, why not come and have a bit of nostalgia at the Camborne feast evening described below – there are still lots of seats at this time. Move away from the key-board and have a bit of live entertainment – you even get the chance to sing yourself and its free! (not quite true, we have a collection to help our charities) If the fact it’s in a chapel puts you off, it’s not a religious do, the folk there allow Proper Job to practise on the premises and this is one of the ways the group pays them back. “The group “Proper Job” who received an award at the Cornish Gorseth this year for best musical group in Cornwall in 2014, have a tradition of putting on an evening’s entertainment every year to celebrate Camborne Feast and to re-create what happened in past years. The group has no connection with, or allegiance to, Holman-Climax Choir, but its members are drawn from that choir. The concert will be held on Saturday 8th November at Kehelland Methodist Church at 7.30 pm and will contain the usual elements of Cornish songs, other popular songs, dialect stories and a guest artiste, singer Hannah Pascoe from Newlyn. Hannah has a superb voice and it would be worth coming to hear her alone. As always, the audience are encouraged to join in! The evening concludes with refreshments and a cup of tea to ensure everyone has an opportunity to socialise. This is another free evening but if you enjoy it a donation would be appreciated to support Proper Job’s charity work, and the church, who allow Proper Job to use the premises to practice. There is no need to book but space is limited to 150 and the group would like an indication of numbers to make sure we don’t have to disappoint people on the night. Please contact David Oates with numbers – either by e-mail: david.oates21@sky or on 01209 716559. By Christmas this year, Proper Job will have donated £7,000 to local charities in the past two years. The Local Deaf Group and St Julia’s Hospice are their next recipients.
