It’s officially winter, but it doesn’t look like there will be a white Christmas in many places around Washington. And that means our annual Oak Creek Wildlife Area winter elk feeding to reduce damage problems on neighboring ag land is not yet rolling. When snow cover drives elk down to the feed site off Hwy. 12 near Naches (northwest of Yakima), it provides excellent elk viewing opportunities. After the snow flies (maybe after Christmas?) call Oak Creek at 509-653-2390 for an updated message about the start of feeding. (Photos are from a past year at Oak Creek.)
