It’s poor old Laindon again! Although the car crash that demolished part of the Laindon High Road metal safety fence that divides the road was around 5-6 weeks ago it still hasn’t been repaired. It still has small residues of the accident scattered below. I see frequently people rushing across the gap as a short cut to Laindon Shopping Centre. Perhaps if someone is unlucky enough to get run-over during their dash to reach the other side it may well speed up the repair time? Somehow I sort of doubt it. Still, looking on the positive side you can see on the steps directly opposite, that lead to the curved walk-way bridge, that there has been some remedial repair work to the cemented step area. It was previously a much ‘lighter shade of pale’ and the new darker cementing does tend to tone it down a bit, although you can still clearly see the much lighter waterfall effect from the prior runny cement job dripping underneath it. I’m sure that once the elusive red paint finally arrives the Basildon Council will get a expert ‘Banksy’ type of commercial artist to individually paint on each and every one of the missing bricks and we’ll all never know the difference? I did suggest that to someone as I took the photo this morning, but they said ‘No way!’ Oh, ye of little faith?
