It’s something beyond norms... Part: 36 Surya- “I was waiting since an hour yaar.” I screamed on her as I opened the apartment. “I am sorry, bahana nahi mil raha tha aane ka. Let me carry your laptop.” Baani said and took my laptop bag as I was over burdened from two bags. “Thank you, I was standing like an idiot, waiting for you.” “So what, that’s your basic posture, you shouldn’t mind that.” She said and went ahead to make something for me. Did she hear the roars coming from my stomach? Whatever.... “Show me the pictures.” She said while sitting near me. “Arey, let me breath first.” “As if I have covered your nostrils. Don’t talk nonsense, show na please.” She insisted. “First bring something to eat.” I said and lie down on the floor. “Don’t lie down, the floor wouldn’t be clean.” She said and kept on trying to lift me up, but she failed. “Don’t try something which is way too hard for you.” I adviced. “Food please.” I said once again. “Ok, but first stand up.” She insisted again while being on her toes. I leaned a bit forward and looked at her, now finally I can reveal everything, she was in front of me, the moment was about to bliss her soul, I hope she don’t bring the negativities in between. “What?” She said while waving her hand in front of my eyes. “I need to tell you something.” “What? I know already that your mother is finding a girl for you.” She said and was about to stand. I held her arm and made her sit in my lap. I hugged her from behind and rested my chin on her shoulder. “Baani, do you mind shifting here forever.” I said softly. “No.” She responded without any question and explanations involved. “Good. So be ready.” I said and looked at her side face. “Ok, I will be ready. Now do you mind leaving me?” She said with a small laugh. “Take me seriously.” I said while following her in the kitchen. “I am taking you seriously.” She said and poured the tea in cups. “I have more things to tell you.” “What more now?” She said while taking a sip. “My mom wants me to get married now.” “Ya then go and get married, why you telling me this.” “Can you leave your harshness sometimes? You spoil everything. I don’t want to tell you anything now.” I said and moved the plate away. I was hurt by her behavior. Was it necessary for her to poke me over every sentence I speak? Is it really obvious that I will leave her and get married to someone whom my mother picks? She doesn’t trust me completely yet I guess…. Baani- The whole night with him on the phone seemed to never end. The argument, the pain, the distance, everything I forgot in some hours. I was missing his presence. I hated his absence and I loved his voice. I was involved completely in him, and who slept first is still a matter of concern for me. I was late as usual and this time he was the reason but he had travelled as well, though it was a short distance but still he managed everything and I didn’t even presented myself on time. I had to think of an escape hole, I need a new reason for my late arrival. “I was waiting since an hour yaar.” He screamed while opening his apartment. “I am sorry, bahana nahi mil raha tha aane ka. Let me carry your laptop.” I said and thanked god for providing me a new excuse. I was waiting for him to start the matter of his marriage, so that I can complete the argument and also could complete the abuses left for her would be wife. Was I exaggerating things, yes, I was, but he provoked me to do that. I was sitting on my toes to make him wake from the dirty floor he was sitting on. Why it is so hard for him to understand such small things, my toes started hurting but his stubbornness didn’t shake a bit. When he held me in his arms, asking one thing after other, I was bitten by his softness, he uplifted me and the want of cross questioning faded away. “I have more things to tell you.” “What more now?” I said while taking a sip of tea. “My mom wants me to get married now.” “Ya then go and get married, why you telling me this.” “Can you leave your harshness sometimes? You spoil everything. I don’t want to tell you anything now.” He said and moved the plate away. “Arey, arey, please don’t be so angry.” I said and held his hand tightly. I was scared to see his anger. I didn’t want to do this. I was just throwing some frustration on him but I guess I initiated some in him. “Yaar, cant you just stop making negative comments. You stress me more sometimes.” He said harshly. “Sorry, sorry, sorry, ok, now I won’t comment, you complete first.” I said and sat like an obedient kid. “Now I am not in mood.” “Come on na Surya, I have missed you so much already, please don’t spoil your mood.” I said while holding him from side, trying to embrace him. “Ok.” He said with a smile. “Yeah, thank God. Now say.” “My mom wanted me to get married, you remember that girl I mentioned.” “Ya I do, meher, right.” “Yes her, I liked her and my cousin told my mom something about us.” “Ohh, then.” “Mom said that she will talk to her.” “Okk.” “Bas ho gaya.” “Bas, she said she will talk and you didn’t say anything.” She said slowly. “I got scared.” “Hmm, ok.” I was shattered by hearing this, he said that he won’t let go this time but he did. He was my last hope, but he gave up. “I got scared at first but.” “But…” She said while sniffing. “But I told her finally that I love….” He said while wiping my lashes and pointed towards me. “Are you serious?” I asked with widened eyes. “Yes.” He said and came near to kiss my forehead. I hugged him tight. “Oh Surya, I got scared. I thought you will leave me alone.” “But how she reacted? Is she angry?” I said leaving him. “No sweetheart, she was happy for me. And you know what; she said that she was shocked when we too didn’t marry.” “What, no.” I said in surprise. “Yes, yes, yes.” “I didn’t expect all this. Why were you teasing me then? Seedhe nahi bta sakte the.” I said and punched his arm. “Phir ye expressions miss ho jate na. I wanted to tell you yesterday but mom said to narrate this news after meeting you.” “She is a darling. I love her. I never expected to win over her so easily.” “Love her and me.” “Very funny.” The talk didn’t end that day. He left me downstairs with a dreadful expression, “Now your turn, cya.” He said and the cab took me away. I didn’t prepare myself yet for this, I just had some hours to think how to initiate, I hope things…………….. Well Baani’s battle is still to be fought. She was hoping for things to work in her favor but she couldn’t speak clearly because pre assuming was not her catch, but her resistance to jump on the inferences was forcing her to imagine new things. Will the drama continue, or something unexpected would stop on Surya and Baani’s floor…. Please spend some time in leaving reviews…. :) JP
