It’s that time of the year when some of us dust off the hiking or running shoes, and get our dogs ready for some much needed outdoor fun. This is also the time when snakes come out of their caves to soak up the sun. Unfortunately this is never a good thing when a snakes resting spot is where your dog decides to have a sniff. Poor Toby was one such pup that was sniffing in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was bitten by an unseen snake and was immediately rushed to the Bellville TAH to receive anti-venom. He has recovered and has been sent home for much needed TLC from his family. If you suspect that your pet has been bitten by a snake, please rush them to your nearest TAH branch. Symptoms can vary depending on the type of snake, but look out for bite wounds, swelling, struggling to breathe, collapsing, disorientation and vomiting.
