It’s the invasion of the gray Tabbies! We seem to have a surplus of these felines on-hand right now at our shelter. The definition of a Tabby cat on Wikipedia is: “A tabby is any domestic cat that has a coat featuring distinctive stripes, dots, lines or swirling patterns, usually together with a mark resembling an M on its forehead.” Even though they all look similar, they come in different sizes and different personalities. Missy came in with her two kittens, Mary and Joey. Missy is just a sweetheart and comes right to you for any attention you’ll give her. Mary and Joey are approximately four-month-old kittens who, like their mother, are very affectionate. Kali and Milo had been featured a couple times and actually got adopted together. Unfortunately, the people who adopted Kali and Milo have a dog that did not get the memo that they were coming. For their safety, they were returned. Piixie and Rio are small and cute. When I was visiting Mary and Joey in the cage across from these two wee ones, Piixie and Rio pressed their little faces against the bars of their cages watching my every move and meowing for me to come see them next. Last but not least, I am fostering five little gray Tabbies right now because they came in without their mother and were too little to eat solid food. It is fun to watch them change day by day. These fabulous five are now playing, climbing, cuddling, sleeping, using the litter box, and eating the home-made kitten formula I give them throughout the day. They think I’m their mommy and happily greet me when I visit them in the porch. My husband calls them “Little Maniacs” because as soon as we enter the porch they all run toward us with their squeaky meows. Once they reach us they attempt to climb our legs, whether we are wearing shorts or long pants. (And I have the tiny scratches to prove it!) I’ve fallen in love with these little characters and they will be ready for adoption when they are about eight weeks old. So, I’ve given you plenty of choices for a new addition or additions to your family. Stop by and take your pick. Please mark your calendars for the Walk for the Animals on Saturday, September 28, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Veteran’s Park (Hanson/Main) in downtown Siren, WI.
