It’s with a heavy heart, but this Tuesday – 2nd September, will be our very last ‘Sesh’ at the Linnet & Lark on Princes Ave, following twelve years of weekly live music nights. We would like to thank Nathan, Sarah & Donna and the rest of the Linnet team, for helping us establish Hull’s finest Original live Music Night. So please come join us for our final farewell at the Linnet with a full on Rock night with the awesome AMEIRA headlining, alongside LIBERATAE MAE and REMENITIONS. AMEIRA facebook/AmeiraMusic LIBERATAE MAE facebook/liberataemaeband REMENITIONS facebook/remenitionsUK So what’s with the move ? The end of an era ? Not quite. The story does continue. From the 9th September, we move The Sesh to the Polar Bear Public House on Springbank, Hull. It’s not a decision that’s been taken lightly, but we feel with a change of management imminent, and the new direction that ‘The Linnet’ will be going in, following a planned refurbishment in October, now really is the time to move on. Where to go, despite many offers, was a no brainer once we knew that the Welly/Fruit team wanted us at The Polar Bear. The idea of joining their creative ‘family’ really excites us. Run by long term friends of The Sesh, and with the HSS team already based there, moving The Sesh to The Polar Bear should be an easy transition. With ITSL continuing to provide quality sound and with plans in place to improve the venue over time – internally and externally, we feel The Polar Bear, albeit a traditional old boozer, has the same creative ethos of the Lamp and Fruit and has a long history of staging live music. It’s also in a great location, 200 metres from our last home, has a great courtyard at the back, a 2am licence, discount drink offers, big screen and TVs, a backroom, a pool table, and more importantly, it fully supports the Arts scenes of Hull. The PB team behind Welly & Fruit intend to market Sesh on a whole new level with monthly listings posters, new banners, regular media updates, and a whole new injection of enthusiasm, which will hopefully help maintain it’s sustainability. We welcome Daniel Mawer to the Sesh team, who will be taking over booking duties from John Copley. We thank John for some quality line ups over the last two years, and wish him well for the future. Daniel is now taking bookings and is already looking at dates for 2015. Get in quick, if you want to play at The Sesh. You can contact Daniel at : https://facebook/daniel.mawer.3 We also aim to continue working with the very best original bands and artists of the region, whilst also attracting exceptional out of town acts. We shall continue our relationship with some of the city’s very best photographers too, including the Sesh legend that is Darren Rogers, and hope Luke ‘Nineties Boy’ Chambers and Josh Moore will continue their weekly podcast interviews at the ‘Bear. We also hope to forge better links with BBC Introducing, Hull Daily Mail, Warren Records and Purple Worm. What’s been achieved at The Sesh over the last twelve years has been nothing short of phenomenal, due to it’s consistency, engagement and support of the local music scene. Over 1000 performances were witnessed at The Linnet. Here’s to the next 1000 performances at the Bear ! All we ask, is that YOU get behind us and support The Sesh in it’s new home. Thank You Mak x On a personal level, I’m actually away on my family holidays for the first two weeks, but as continuity is very important to The Sesh night, we’re launching regardless. Please support. THE SESH - 9th September @ The Polar Bear A very special ‘FOLK IN HULL Sesh’ courtesy of Lloyd Dobbs, featuring BEGGARS BRIDGE, JODY McKENNA and THE QUIKSILVER KINGS.
