Ive always found it funny that Ive been ridiculed and called absolutely crazy for some of my opinions on Hip Hop, even though it shouldnt matter since its just an opinion which doesnt carry any weight. So just as an experiment, lets see how much hate this post will generate. Remember, these are just some of my opinions, nothing that should be taken personal... 1. Hip Hop as a whole started going downhill after 1997. 2. Craig Mack should have been the frontrunner for Bad Boy Records instead of Big. 3. I liked Pac more when he was with Digital Underground. 4. Although they definitely had talent, I was never really a huge fan of the two I just mentioned, or Jay Z, Kanye, DMX, T.I., or Wayne. 5. Dr.Dres last decent work was the Aftermath LP. He hasnt made a dope beat since then. 6. DJ Quik should have been named the King of West Coast Hip Hop instead of Dre, as he writes all his own lyrics & stays consistent in his production. 7. It baffles me how radio hip hop for the past 10+ years has remained so popular, because its all just lazy lyrics & delivery with almost the exact same beat patterns & drum sounds over & over. 8. Its sad & very disappointing to see R&B and Hip Hop merging and morphing into one ridiculous genre I call urban pop. 9. I wish autotune was never invented. 10. Last but not least, variety is the spice of life. In the 90s you could turn on hip hop radio & hear a blend of different styles...youd hear party jams, gangsta rap, and simple thoughtless tunes as well as uplifting rap, educational, and positive hip hop. Now its all the same stuff that makes our race look ignorant and simple minded to the rest of the world.
