Ive always found this to be the case. Two projects allows you to change gears when youre stuck, but isnt unmanageable. I used to try to force myself to focus on one project until it was done no matter how frustrated I got, and that just slowed my productivity. Procrastinating productively not only allows me to make good use of what would otherwise be downtime, but also primes me for working on the original project (theres a reason why I write so many columns). Keeping your mind turning and fingers moving is crucial to breaking writers block. Working on two projects is symbiotic, at least in my experience. More than two can be overwhelming, though.
