Ive been a 49ers fan all my life. I believe they are, what Eddie DeBartolo always called, a first-class organization. Thats why I am so disappointed they are letting Ray McDonald play while hes under investigation for felony domestic violence. Today, at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, I introduced a resolution agreeing with what 49er greats of the past, Brent Jones, Steve Young, and Ronnie Lott all said--that he should sit unless and until the charges are cleared. My resolution also urges the NFL and the 49ers to reevaluate and strengthen their procedures for addressing accusations of criminal activity, particularly domestic violence, levied against their personnel. San Francisco is a great city, and the 49ers have the privilege of our citys name. A great team, a first-class team would denounce any act of violence through their deeds. I hope the 49ers will not make the same mistake this coming weekend.
