Ive been a wrestling fan for 45 years. Ive seen dozens of promotions come and go, and Ive seen a million wrestlers come and go. In the old days people were wrestling fans. Now we have WWE fans and wrestling fans. Most wrestling fans are also WWE fans, but few WWE fans are wrestling fans. Yes, there is a difference between wrestling fans and WWE fans. Wrestling fans dont bash any promotion and they value the fact that there ARE different promotions. WWE fans (in general but not all of them), those that know of other promotions, make it a point to bash those other promotions (especially TNA). This section is infested with that type of WWE fan. Why are they like that? Because Vince McMahon has spent the past 28 years training them to be like that. He couldnt produce wrestling shows that just out-drew other promotions, so he changed the wrestling his fathers company did into what he calls sports entertainment, and set about to systematically kill the wrestling business by raiding other promotions of their top stars, dismantling the territories system, then driving every company in the world out of business through every means he could (fair and foul); he only succeeded in North America but that was enough. He killed the wrestling business, replaced it with his sports entertainment, gave everything he did a big bright coat of Hollywood glitz and stood on stage sneering and laughing at the rasslin companies he drove out of business. He claims to have invented everything in the world of wrestling (show me ANYTHING Vince claims to have invented and Ill show you where the idea really came from), rewrites history any time he feels like it, ignores all other wrestling companies (except for when he releases a DVD that has other promotions on it), erases his performers wrestling history and assigns them a WWE gimmick and backstory, giving the impression that he discovers these people on golf courses or grows them in his basement lab. And the performers he hires that the fans know he ignores their history, as well, meaning that what they did before the WWE is absolutely irrelevant. He calls his fan base the WWE universe, a place where he is king and dictator and nothing matters but the WWE. Much like a cult, really. VINCE bashes other promotions and acts like the WWE is the only thing that matters, and everything else is inferior and inconsequential. So naturally, the fans follow their leader and believe what he tells them to believe. To the point most of them wont even consider watching anything but the WWE for fear that they will become traitors. They may complain about the WWE but they wont even consider switching to something else. Baseball fans watch baseball; football fans watch football; wrestling fans watch wrestling. WWE fans watch the WWE and believe the WWE is the only thing that matters. Because thats what Vince has taught them to believe. Every promotion on the planet offers something the others dont. Every promotion on the planet is different from the rest. Every promotion on the planet is entertaining in its own unique way. Every promotion on the planet deserves support from all wrestling fans. But thats not what Vince teaches his WWE universe. Vince killed the wrestling business to take away the fans choices. We have choices again but Vince has successfully taught his WWE universe that its a sin to have any desire to watch other promotions. So they will sit through 4 hours of WWE programming every week, complain about everything they see, and they STILL wont even consider trying something else because they believe that would make them traitors. To make themselves feel better about the WWE (no matter how good or bad it may be) they heap abuse on other promotions and FANS of other promotions. Because Vince does. https://answers.yahoo/question/index?qid=20120626135610AAK8AHY
