Ive been attacked by my opponent Ginzler and the MeGOP because I missed over 3 weeks of the legislature to care for (in ICU) my father, then unexpectedly see him pass away while I whispered in his ear, that he was the best father and the best man my brothers and I could ever have had as father. My brother, a Iraq war veteran, couldnt stay to see him die, because he was my dads hero and he didnt want him to see him cry. I stayed, I talked to him until he took his last breath, I talked about love of his children and grandchildren, his life and mentioned the so many friends he had at FMC, where he worked until retirement. His start at FMC was a humble one from a broom sweeper to the lead shop foreman. He was loved and well respected and rode his bicycle to check on his people, who loved him. He shaped our lives, how he brought the homeless into our family for Thanksgiving dinners because as he said even homeless people want to celebrate Thanksgiving, he bought products from people he didnt know, only because he knew they needed the money to help feed their family. He came from a world where taking care of your fellow man was instinctual, not political. Sadly, politics has changed into not the best person but who has more money. I hope our region brings back local politics, because we can not be bought by Apple or Hewlett Packard. Bring me your worst and I will bring you my best. I am unafraid and unashamed of my fight to do what is right for our region and our state. I will continue to spread my fathers honesty and integrity because it was human, not political. And that is what we need these days, people who care about the lives of Americans working to make the world a better place for our children and future generations. I believe in Maines people to do what is right, because money doesnt drive us, our people do.
