Ive been avoiding the news on the Isreali/Palestinian conflict and instead sending loving intentions to the people suffering in this conflict, but flicking through channels at my parents house tonight, I couldnt help but watch a short clip on CNN that turned my stomach. Clearly they were attempting to skew the story into the same pro-Isreal rhetoric thats been flowing through Western tv for as long as I can remember, but the anchor was hard pressed to get his angle backed up when he went live to a journalist on the ground where Isreal had just bombed the Islamic University. When the anchor asked what the journalists feelings were on Hamas breaking a cease fire, he very clearly and very plainly laid it out by saying, how could they know? The majority of the city has been operating by candle light for days, they probably werent aware that there was one. One Isreali military official kidnapped. One. and in return they have flooded hospitals with bodies of dead and dying civilians. And the anchor just cut him off and switched to a clip of Obama stating that the US is backing Isreal. It actually made me sick to my stomach. The journalist kept saying, can you hear the bombs in the background? and there are bodies everywhere, its quite horrific when the anchorman tried to get him to comment on who was to blame for the cease fire (i.e. please justify this by admitting its the fault of Hamas).
