Ive been away for the weekend as it was my sweethearts birthday & i wanted to treat her to somewhere nice. Great food, nice room & a few drinks to get us a bit squiffy to put us in the celebration mood. On the way back home we called into Llangorse lake to stretch our legs & to enjoy the beautiful golden Autumnal sunshine. Picking up three packets of maize to feed the ducks & swans, we headed for the lakeside. What a commotion as we took the bags of treats out & sprinkled yellow flakes of maize onto the water, like a herd of water bound wilder beast, what seemed like the whole of South Wales population of waterfowl came surging over to us almost causing a tsunami. Its quite a sight watching them all as they try to get their share. The best bit was that my lovely lady enjoyed feeding the birds as much as anything we had done this weekend, and we had packed quite a lot in with an overnight stay, a wonderful dinner, an even better breakfast, a movie ( almost, we fell asleep ) exploring country lanes & looking around fabulous Hay on Wye with yet more food & lots of antique & book shops to lose ourselves in. But it was the ducks & swans that won the day. What i love about this is that its those simple things that bring most pleasure to her & to me. I know this has nothing to do with art or painting particularly but they were such characters that i thought id post some photos of them.
