Ive been debating about posting about this since I found out a couple of weeks ago. Its not something I really want to even think about, much less talk about, but the news is spreading a little and people are starting to ask me about it in front of Rebecca. So first and foremost, REBECCA DOES NOT KNOW, and I dont plan to tell her until absolutely necessary. When Rebeccas case went to the conference after her cath, they decided that it would be better not to wait and see about the narrowing that they found in her heart. They want to go ahead and fix it before it has a chance to cause any damage. They want to do surgery soon, not urgent, but within the year. It hasnt been scheduled yet, but I am going to schedule it for the summer. Our surgeon, Dr. Kirshbom, who did all three of her other heart surgeries, isnt at our hospital any more AND our cardiologist, Dr. Long who has been Rebeccas cardiologist since BEFORE she was born is leaving the practice early next year. So we will be going into this with a different cardiologist and a different surgeon. Im sure that our new doctors will be top notch and weve probably already met them over the years, but it still adds another level of stress to the situation. I think thats all. The main thing is that Im not going to tell Rebecca until a week or two before. She stressed about the cath for a month and there is no need for her to worry about this for 6 months or so. I will be worrying enough for both of us.
