Ive been doing some thinking lately, and Ive come to the conclusion that I, personally, spend too much time apart from my friends and family members, especially those in the Finger Lakes Region of New York and the Dayton area of Ohio. Granted, Im stuck in a rut because my doctor suspended my driving privileges because of my medical issues. Thats probably a good thing because the way Ive been lately, if someone were to cut me off, I would probably drag the maggot out through their exhaust pipe and beat some sense into their worthless carcass. Anyhow, it came to me last evening when a good friend of mine came by for a visit. As we were talking, we figured that it had been at least five years, if not longer, since we last saw each other. It then dawned on me that me and a very close friend of mine, who visited me last month, hadnt seen each other in almost ten years or more. I know that since I retired almost seven years ago, I have lost touch with the majority of my friends and family members. Now, many of us stay in contact via social media or email, but thats the extent of it. I dont want to just touch base with people at weddings or funerals because the same questions are always asked, We need to get together more often and then another wedding or funeral arises. I will make this promise, though. We plan on making annual trips to home starting next summer. I will ensure that I give plenty of notice so I can catch up with as many friends and family members as I can each time. For my friends and family that live outside of the Finger Lakes Region and Dayton area, believe me when I say this, if any of my travels bring me to an area anywhere near you, I will definitely make it a point to stop in, even if its just to say hi and have a beer or two, or three, or four.....just as I hope you would do the same for me. We need to connect more personally than electronically. Thanks for reading this and I hope to see you soon.
