Ive been following the call for an inquiry into missing Aboriginal - TopicsExpress

Ive been following the call for an inquiry into missing Aboriginal women by premiers and the opposition. By Merriam-Webster definition, an inquiry is a request for information, an official effort to collect and examine information about something, and is the act of asking questions in order to gather or collect information. In my humble opinion, the plight of Aboriginal people, and in this case, women, has been well studied and investigated. We know the social, political and economic issues that Aboriginal women are faced with. They are vulnerable as a result. Weve fulfilled the nature of an inquiry many times over. This a matter of the law not an inquiry; the police and RCMP are investigating. I trust in the law; we all must true in the law. Rather than throw more $$$$ into further studying the social, economic and political issues of Canadas third world situation, I suggest we empower committed Aboriginal women to lead and influence policy, communities and society in general. Education is part of the solution. Hope is another part of the equation. Moreover, aboriginal women and their people, must demand transparency and accountability from their elected representatives. I am still in shock over the salaries of chiefs. On this rare occasion, I support the decision of the Government of the day, and agree that a national inquiry is not the answer. But perhaps Jeffrey Simpson says it best. #aboriginal #inquiry #cdnpoli #thirdworld #women #jeffreysimpson
