Ive been going up Burnaby Mountain and taking in that incredible view of the lower mainland since I was a child, and now I take my own child up there. Like Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and other local treasures, Ive always considered it part of our local treasures, one of our parks, and our Mountain. But today, seeing police that our tax dollars pay for, blocking access to that mountain, a mountain the tax dollars of residents of the lower mainland have maintained for a century or more, to protect the corporate interests of multi Billion dollar company Kinder Morgan, and their desire to pump close to a million barrels of oil a day through our mountain and into tankers in our Ocean waterways, I really wonder not only whose Mountain it is, but whose country it is? Stephen Harpers Conservative Government has done the groundwork and bidding of international corporations and done away with any Federal environmental protection, as well as the power of the provinces and municipalities to have any say in the matter on behalf of the residents who live there, all in the name of the corporate buck and their rich and soulless share holders.
