Ive been here for over 2 months and here are some of the things Ive learned... 1. Every male under the age of 30 looks like they are going to a Menudo reunion concert. 2. Most of the women, of all ages, look like they are going to a Fly Girl audition on the set of In Living Color. 3. No one is in a hurry. For anything. Ever. Period. 4. The island is beautiful. End of story. 5. Weather is perfect almost all the time. And if you dont like the current weather conditions at any given time, wait 5-10 mins...itll change. 6. Quality of life here is high... standard of living is sub-par. And I dont say that as a spoiled American, I say that as a civilized human being. 7. The only courteous people Ive met seem to be my fellow joggers in the evenings. Otherwise people are generally annoyed that you are merely in their presence. I thought it was me, being and outsider, but no, its everyone. They are annoyed by their own kind as well. 8. Ocean Park smells like dog shit 24/7. Period. 9. So many people are active, running, biking, canoeing, etc. I love it. 10. Trash pick up runs everyday. Between 4:30-5:00am. Everyday. Every...day. 11. Constant under-boob sweat is a way of life. 12. At any point in time, day or night, someone somewhere is playing salsa music or latin jazz. I love it, makes me relaxed and happy :) 13. The culture here is very odd mix of ghetto/redneck/chic...occurring separately as well as in combination with each other. I know, I dont understand either. Just is. 14. Half-way decent, remotely non-stale bread does not exist, either in the store or in a bakery. 15. The sea is nothing short of magnificent.
