Ive been home after Conjecture 2013 / ConChord 25. Overall, the con was successful - except in one key area: we were down about 50 members from last year (maybe a few more). Of course, trying to figure out why were down is hard: is it the government shutdown, the proximity to Comic Fest, lack of sufficient promotion, or something Ive not considered. Now, I have one last task for Conjecture - hold an after-action meeting - and then Westercon 68 becomes my major fannish commitment for a bit less than two years. (I have a job for Loncon 3 - 2014 Worldcon, and will probably offer to do something for Sasquan the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention; but not something incompatible with Westercon, obviously.) Tonight: sleep. Tomorrow: sleep in and get my car its past-due service and Tuesday is back to work.
