Ive been honouring the Dragonfly Tribe that rules the low sky around our sacred pond in the daylight. They are fierce and fearless hunters, deftly tracking their prey with calculated precision, yielding only come nightfall to the Bat Tribe, who also live with my tribe in the forest here. As the light begins to fail at dusk, it is only the Bats which drive the Dragonflys from the sky over the pond. The pond itself, like a life-giving mandala, is the centre of our inner-yard, yielding a plentiful harvest of prey for both Dragonfly and Bat alike. And as the stars begin to shine at night, Ive seen as many as half a dozen bats working the airspace, not hesitating to dive-bomb towards myself so close I feel the wind from their leathery wings as I stand there making my offerings in the growing dark... heh heh....
