Ive been in the gym since I signed up for my first weight training - TopicsExpress

Ive been in the gym since I signed up for my first weight training class in 10th grade P.E. My love for sports & fitness is what led me to obtaining a degree in Exercise & Sport Science. I loved everything I learned in college about anatomy, physiology, and all things human performance. Maybe its because Im a jock, but man I love athletics. Anyhow, in the many years since I first entered that 10th grade weight room, Ive watched many different fitness trends come and go; but the basics have remained the same: Cardio & Strength Training. The variety in which I see people accomplish these things is incredible. I marvel at the new trends that are set forth and I certainly appreciate the variety. Now and again though I come across some really scary things. The scariest these days is cross fit. There are few people in the world who are genuinely built to take on this type of training and I mean few! If you feel you are one of those people - I challenge you to invest in yourself by hiring a personal strength and conditioning coach who specializes in this kind of training. Someone who is invested in teaching you the techniques with time and patience. Simultaneously you should consider investing in a masseuse and physical therapist while youre at it. For the rest of the new years resolution-ers - I recommend personal trainers, at home programs like the variety Beach Body offers or a good run around the track. Get strong - but be smart. Fitness Training isnt something you want to do just to lose a few pounds. Make it a way of life and pick something you can do for the long haul.
